Romanian Rhapsody in London

I would like to invite you all to my very first concert in London. This event is special to me because my native country, Romania, celebrates 100 years as an united nation. Join me to hear Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody as a transcription for piano written by the composer itself. (Cristina Achim)

Born and raised in the city of Bucharest, Cristiana Achim is now studying the piano at the prestigious Royal College of Music in London.

When: Friday, 16 November 2018 at 13:00 UTC

We are pleased to invite you to our event at the RIBA Forum on the 17th November 2018.

The event celebrates two different visions for the future, the making of London as a global financial centre and, at the other end of the spectrum, that of vernacular architecture with conservation at its core.

Sir George Iacobescu and Arch. Silvia Demeter-Lowe are touching on their journeys to and from the two countries and the mark they have both made in the built environment.

RAUF is presenting the dialogue initiated with the RIBA and OAR which aims to formalise as a tripartite collaboration based on best practice and knowledge sharing.

SUBCARPATI

Subcarpați is an explosive mixture between traditional Romanian music and modern beats. An eclectic mix that combines Romanian folklore with traditional instruments and trip hop, dubstep, rap or dancehall, among other rhythms. About their music, most people say it brings them back to the roots and makes them proud of their origins.

The Guardian reviewed Subcarpati as: “an explosive mixture of old and new. It’s an eclectic combination that brings together melancholy Romanian folk songs, Romanian unity songs, traditional instruments and the rhythms of trip-hop, dub-step, hip-hop and dance-hall”.
